America: False information about Hindutva and India in school books




washington: The Indian-American community is displeased by giving incorrect information regarding Hindutva in school books! A large number of people participated in a protest in California for a week-lon protest.

Eight thousand people signed a petition and demanded from the provincial government to give accurate information about India and Hindu religion, published in the proposed books. After this, the Department of Education of the California Province made changes in the textbook on the information received from scholars, students and the community.

In the public hearing of the Instructional Quality Commission (IQQC) of the Education Department, Hindu Americans, LGBTs and African American communities expressed serious concern about the wrong information regarding Hindu religion.

Santaram Nekker of the California-based Hindu Education Foundation (HEF) said, "India's history should not be seen in the West's perspective. Although the education department has rejected books of two publishers and made some positive changes in the books. Regardless of this there is a lot of improvement needed. We will continue to struggle to get the right information in our history!
